Profile

Asst Prof Marie LOH

Principal Investigator

Asst Prof Marie Loh is an Assistant Professor at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, Senior Research Scientist at the Genome Institute of Singapore, Honorary Senior Lecturer at Imperial College London and a Co-Investigator of the SG100K study.

Dr Loh is a molecular epidemiologist with a long-standing interest in the role of genetics and epigenetics underlying complex diseases, with a specific focus on ethnic differences in risk and outcome. Her current research focuses on combining population health with molecular phenotyping approaches to advance knowledge and understanding of non-communicable diseases.

She has published more than 100 papers to date, including high-impact journals such as Lancet Diabetes and Endocrinology, Nature Genetics, and Nature. She has played a pivotal role in multiple international collaborative studies including the EU FP7 EpiMigrant, Translating Omics into A Stratified approach for prevention of T2D (TOAST) and South Asian(SAS)-T2D studies where we identified novel epigenetic and genetic loci associated with incident Type 2 Diabetes (T2D), and the Asian Skin Microbiome Programme 2 (ASMP2) study which investigates the functional roles of skin microbiome components and uncover novel bi-directional interactions between the host and skin microbiome, with environmental factors.
