Xianyue WU
Research Assistant
Xianyue Wu’s main research interest lies in the study of CO2 capture and utilisation. Currently, she is working on an in-situ two-step CO2 capture and methanation process using Ni-supported-on-alkaline earth metal carbonate dual-function materials. She discovered that CO2 conversion and CH4 selectivity are improved with the increasing CaCO3/MgCO3 ratio, which is attribute to enhanced surface basicity and metal-support interactions. By operating at moderate temperatures, the two-step CO2 capture-hydrogenation proceeds by allowing direct hydrogenation on carbonates and CH4 production is achieved. She proposed different reaction pathways on Ni/MgCO3 and Ni/CaCO3 interphases and suggested a correlation between the performance of conventional one-step CO2 methanation and two-step CO2 capture-hydrogenation, which could be a useful approach to study the CO2 hydrogenation performance of dual-function materials in the future.
