Profile

Prof Rudi STOUFFS

Principal Investigator

Prof Rudi Stouffs is Assistant Dean (Research) of the College of Design and Engineering (CDE) and Dean’s Associate Professor in the Department of Architecture at the National University of Singapore (NUS). He received his PhD in Architecture from Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), an MSc in Computational Design, also from CMU, and an MSc in Architectural Engineering from the Free University Brussels. He has held previous appointments at Carnegie Mellon University, ETH Zurich, and TU Delft.

A leading expert in Computational Architecture, he leads the Technologies Research Cluster and the Architectural and Urban Prototyping Lab in the Department of Architecture. He is Principal Investigator of the ‘Digital Twin-Enabled System Resilience’ project in the Future Resilient Systems II research programme, and of the ‘Circular Future Cities’ and ‘Sea-City Interface’ projects in the FCL Global research programme at the Singapore-ETH Centre. In his administrative role as Assistant Dean (Research), he s upports the Vice-Dean (Research) in his administrative role and management, and internal research funding and reviews.

Within NUS, he champions NUS’ participation in the Future Cities Laboratory Global research programme. He is currently president of eCAADe, the Association for Education and Research in Computer-Aided Architectural Design in Europe. He reviews for numerous international peer-reviewed journals and conferences and has served on many research review panels, including on Products and Process Engineering for the European Research Council.
